OPERATING GUIDELINES

OPERATING GUIDELINES

  • SCCF is a partnership among the members of Stone Canyon and is a vehicle through which the community can improve the quality of life and outcomes for youth-in-need in the greater Tucson area.

  • SCCF is a donor-advised fund of the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona (CFSA). A donor advised fund is a giving vehicle established at a IRS recognized 501-c3 public charity such as CFSA. This structure allows donors to make tax deductible contributions that are in turn allocated to grant making efforts over time. This structure allows SCCF to benefit from the administrative duties provided by CFSA while assuming no legal or fiduciary responsibility which remains with CFSA.
  • SCCF sustainability is predicated on conducting an annual appeal for funds from members of the Stone Canyon Club, expanding the Legacy endowment fund, fostering an efficient operation, and maintaining communications with community members.

  • SCCF grant making focuses on programming that primarily serves PreK-12 that help youth in need get and stay on track by supporting educational, social, and emotional needs, and other opportunities for their self-improvement.
  • SCCF generally does not support capital funding projects.
  • SCCF seeks to support agencies with sustainable fundraising efforts who are not primarily dependent upon SCCF funding.
  • SCCF Grants Committee conducts rigorous vetting for new and existing grant requests including research and agency visits as appropriate.
  • SCCF will support grant making that, in its judgement, will benefit the greatest number of youth-in-need through new and existing program requests.

  • The SCCF Advisory Board has the final authority for grants awarded as recommended by the Grants Committee as well as other areas of giving that support the SCCF mission.

  • The SCCF Advisory Board will consist of 7-15 members of Stone Canyon including one representative from the Stone Canyon Club. Leadership for the Board and supporting Committees is selected by the Advisory Board members.
  • SCCF is an all volunteer organization and welcomes the participation of members through direct financial support, participation on SCCF Advisory Board and Committees, and volunteer work with grant recipients.
