GABRIEL’S ANGELS
6th Year Grant-$5,000

Agency Background:  The program began in Maricopa County in 2000.  It expanded to include So. AZ in 2007, and Yavapai County in 2011.  It currently has 49 therapy teams who provide services at 34 So. AZ Partner Child-serving Agencies.  The mission of Gabriel’s Angels is to deliver healing pet therapy to at-risk children, nurturing their emotional development and enhancing the quality of their lives forever.

Focus of 2018 Grant:  Pet Therapy Program The grant will provide funds to train therapy teams which include volunteers and their pets.  These teams must be registered with Pet Partners or Therapy Dogs, Inc., and clear an FBI fingerprint/background check.

Measureable ResultsThe Houston Trauma Academy lists seven core behaviors: attachment, confidence, self-regulation, affiliation, empathy, tolerance and respect. Gabriel’s Angels is positively impacting all seven areas.  Intervention is successful if progress toward the measurable goals of the child’s treatment plan or individualized education program is made and is determined by the therapist in at least 65% pf those served.
