2017 Grant Recipients
OUR FAMILY SERVICES, INC-6th Year Funding-$15,000
Agency Background: Our Family Services began as a Family Counseling Agency in 1953, and today is a blended family of nonprofit organizations and services that have joined together over time to better serve the Tucson community. Our Family is built around two program areas: “New Beginnings” and “Strong Communities”. “New Beginning’s” programs offer crisis assistance and opportunities to build new lives for homeless children, youth and families. “Strong Communities” helps at-risk children choose healthy behaviors. In 2015, Our Family provided direct care services to more than 5933 individuals in Pima County.
Focus of 2017 Grant: Homeless Youth Services Based on each youth’s unique needs, Our Family provides rent and utility assistance, intensive case management, access to counseling with a licensed therapist, life skills and assistance locating job training and employment, and educational support.
- 90% of the teens at the Reunion House will be reunified with their families or supported in transition to other safe, stable living arrangements.
- 75% of the homeless youth and young families served through transitional and supportive housing programs will transition to permanent housing.
Our Family exceeded its goals last year. The impact of this success in the lives of homeless young people is immeasurable – children were able to attend school regularly and their young parents had a permanent address to put on employment applications and a stable home to return to after school and work. Most importantly, they knew that their most basic needs were met and they had the opportunity to make a lasting change in their lives.
