2016 Grant Recipients


Diamond Family Fund Match:  $2,500

Agency Background:  Mission is to promote educational excellence by providing resources to support work, which enriches the education, development and well-being of all Sunnyside Unified School District children.  The foundation serves the Sunnyside Unified School District.

Focus of the 2016 Grant:  Early Childhood Enrichment Program Expansion Designed to provide 200 parents and 300 children enrolled in Parents as Teachers along with 80 kindergarten children enrolled in Summit View Elementary School the opportunity to engage with a variety of community performing artists, expanding their knowledge and experiences in art, music, dance and drama.  The project will help promote language literacy skills, social skills, motor skills and cognitive skills of the children and their parents.  Fifteen sessions will be scheduled for the year, beginning in August 2016 and ending in June 2017.

Measurable ResultsThe newness of the program precludes hard data from capture this year, and data will be anecdotal in nature with testimonies from students, teachers and parents.  Future quantitative data will include:  Number of art and music books given out to reinforce children’s knowledge and experiences surrounding the performing arts.  Quantitative data will include parent surveys, letters or stories from students, parent comments on the impact of these performances on their children and their families.
