2016 Grant Recipients

GABRIEL’S ANGELS-4th Year Grant-$5,000

Agency Background:  The program began in Maricopa County in 2000.  It expanded to include So. AZ in 2007, and Yavapai County in 2011.  It currently has 45 therapy teams who provide services at 32 So. AZ Partner Child-serving Agencies.  The mission of Gabriel’s Angels is to deliver healing pet therapy to at-risk children, nurturing their emotional development and enhancing the quality of their lives forever.

Focus of 2016 Grant:  Pet Therapy Program The grant will provide funds to train therapy teams which include volunteers and their pets.  These teams must be registered with Pet Partners or Therapy Dogs, Inc., and clear an FBI fingerprint/background check .

Measureable ResultsChildren served will demonstrate notable or significant improvement in:

  • Self-regulation and Confidence (56%)
  • Attachment and/Trust, Tolerance, Respect and Affiliation (73%)
  • Awareness/Empathy (60%)
