2014 GRANT AWARD RECIPIENTS
OUR FAMILY SERVICES, INC.
3rd Year Funding
Agency Background: Our Family Services began as a Family Counseling Agency in 1953, and today is a blended family of nonprofit organizations and services that have joined together over time to better serve the Tucson community. They have two program areas: New Beginnings and Strong Communities. New Beginning’s programs offer crisis assistance and opportunities to build new lives for homeless children, youth and families. Strong Communities helps at-risk children choose healthy behaviors, low-income elderly to remain independent, and families in crisis to remain intact. In 2011 Our Family provided direct care services to more than 9,400 individuals in Pima County.
–> Focus of the 2014 SCCF Grant: New Beginnings Homeless Youth Services The grant will provide 14 homeless youth with a full continuum of services (shelter-food-academic help, etc.) SCCF funds will provide required matching funds to help Our Family Services to cover costs not covered by other funding sources. New Beginnings lost $100,000 in federal funding for their Street Outreach program and most of their federal, city and county grants were reduced by 3-10%.
