Agency BackgroundMWFB was incorporated as a non-profit organization in March 1998. Its mission is to promote early literacy in limited resource areas of southern Arizona by providing children (birth – 5 yrs) with an opportunity to fall in love with books and reading. The vision is that all children will enter school with the early literacy skills necessary to be successful.
Focus of the 2014 SCCF Grant: MWFB Preschool Program: Cover to Cover Book Club
Specific request of funding for “Cover to Cover Book Club” serving economically disadvantaged families who do not have access to books or high quality preschools. MWFB will travel to high-need areas and provide early literacy programming in locations frequented by this underserved population (social service agencies, laundromats, low-cost grocery stores, food banks, public parks, Tohono O’odham Reservation, etc.).
