Agency Background: Founded in 1957, Junior Achievement of Southern Arizona’s mission is to educate and inspire young people to succeed in a global economy by teaching them critical skills in workforce readiness, financial literacy and entrepreneurship. More specifically the program focuses on reducing the dropout rate. In 2011-2012 the SCCF grant funded 3 programs at Doolen Middle School reaching 27 classes.
Focus of the 2013 SCCF Grant: Doolen Middle School Program This grant will allow these 3 JA programs to continue to run at Doolen Middle School where 69% of their youth have been identified as at-risk of dropping out. The program will target students in 6th & 7th grades as well as initiate life skills programs into the 8th grade group.
