Agency Background: United Way of Tucson and Southern AZ (UWTSA) established a program in 1999 called First Focus on Kids. It focuses on improving the well-being and school-readiness of children in Northern Pima County, where the availability and accessibility to programs & services supporting early childhood development are very limited.

Focus of the 2013 SCCF Grant: Oro Valley & Catalina Early Childhood Program: First Focus on Kids Funding would support: A Stay & Play group for 40 families; health & nutrition professional development to 23 identified regulated child care and early education centers which would impact 4,000 children; the North Pima Resource Guide which will target 500 families, child care providers and agencies in Oro Valley/Catalina; and The Annual Burn Buster Blast – a health and safety fair providing information and community resources to area residents.
