Agency Background: Child & Family Resources, Inc. is a nonprofit founded in 1970 with the mission of making children’s lives better. They provide over thirty prevention and early intervention programs in eight Arizona counties by (1) Partnering with teens to prevent pregnancy, school drop-out, drug use and suicide; (2) Coaching child care teachers so children excel in school; (3) Helping families succeed.
Focus of the 2013 SCCF Grant: Mentors for Moms Mentors for Moms matches high school participants who are pregnant or parenting with female undergraduates in the Psychology Dept at the U of A. The program’s main focus is to assist and support young mothers who are already in school to earn a high school diploma, and also give them the skills and resources they need to move into post-secondary education or a job with career potential. The goal is to recruit 25-30 participants.
