Agency Background: United Way of Tucson and Southern AZ (UWTSA) established a program in 1999 called First Focus on Kids. It focuses on improving the well-being and school-readiness of children in Pima County.

Focus of the 2012 SCCF Grant: Oro Valley & Catalina Early Childhood Program: First Focus on Kids Support services for children birth to age five as well as families. Programs include: (a) the Stay & Play Group, which benefits 25 families with toddlers over the course of 600 hrs of parent/child play based learning; (b) FTF Learning Communities, Literacy Kits and health professionals, which provide outreach to the 23 identified regulated child care and early education centers in the area; and (c) the Imagination Library, which provides an age appropriate book per month for 12 months to 150 children.
