2012 GRANT AWARD RECIPIENTS
DESERT DOVE FARM, INC. (DDF)
2nd Year Funding
Agency Background: DDF, incorporated in 2000, helps youth strengthen social, emotional and behavioral function through equine-assisted therapy. The mission is to provide horse therapy for at-risk youth in order to promote life skills and encourage healthy emotional development. They do not teach horsemanship or riding: instead they give youth the opportunity to experiment with life behaviors and emotions while working through challenges with horses in an enclosed corral.
Focus of the 2012 SCCF Grant: Primary Prevention Program Students in the fourth grade and above will be chosen by the school personnel to receive these services beginning in fall 2012. The grant will provide services for three separate groups of 6-7 youth (18-21 total) attending 1.25 hour session once a week for 17 weeks. The grant monies are used to pay for the therapeutic team and support the necessary feed for the horses.
