CAMP WILDCAT
2nd Year Funding

Agency Background: Camp Wildcat is a non-profit organization that aims to provide cost-free camps and specialized activities for Tucson’s youth. University of Arizona student volunteers provide children with the opportunity to challenge their personal limits, build interpersonal skills through teamwork, and explore creative outlets and view higher education and general success as attainable. In the last academic year, nine camps were held with 800 children participating. Camp volunteers performed over 28,000 hours of community service including raising $17,000 through fundraisers and $7,000 through grants and donations.

Focus of the 2012 SCCF Grant: Big Camp IV
The camp will take approximately 50 students (4th & 5th graders) from Title I Tucson elementary schools. The first fifty students will be accepted, giving equal opportunity to all who want to attend. In order to provide these children with an entirely free weekend, it will cost approximately $2,000. Costs will cover food, transportation and supplies for the weekend.
