MUSEUM SCHOOL FOR THE VISUAL ARTS (MSVA)
3rd Year Funding

Agency Background: MSVA is located within the Tucson Museum of Art and is the result of a unique partnership created in 2008 between the Museum and the Tucson United School District. MSVA is a satellite location of the Tucson High Magnet School. MSVA is the only school that is located on the grounds of an art museum. Upon entering MSVA, the majority of students possess a high risk for academic failure, delinquent social behavior, teen pregnancy, truancy and substance abuse.

Focus of the 2011 SCCF Grant: General Program OperationsCurrent enrollment is 36 at-risk teenagers. The grant supports the school’s capacity to deliver MSVA alternative school curriculum. During half of the school day, students participate in visual art classes. In addition, TUSD delivers a regular government standardized academic curriculum.
