Agency Background: Founded in 1957, Junior Achievement of Southern Arizona’s mission is to educate and inspire young people to succeed in a global economy by teaching them critical skills in workforce readiness, financial literacy and entrepreneurship. More specifically the program focuses on reducing the dropout rate.
Focus of the 2010 SCCF Grant: Doolen Middle School ProgramA new program will be launched at Doolen Middle School in the Tucson Unified School District where 69% of their youth have been identified as at-risk of dropping out. The program will target 200 students in 6th grade in the spring of 2010 and an additional 200 in the 7th grade in the fall of 2010.
