2010 GRANT AWARD RECIPIENTS
DESERT DOVE FARM, INC. (DDF) *
Agency Background: DDF, incorporated in 2000, helps youth strengthen social, emotional and behavioral function through equine-assisted therapy. The mission is to provide horse therapy for at-risk youth that promotes life skills and encourages healthy emotional development. They do not teach horsemanship or riding; instead they give youth the opportunity to experiment with life behaviors and emotions while working through challenges with horses from the ground.
Focus of the 2010 SCCF Grant: Primary Prevention Program The SCCF grant will support three groups of young people (18-21 youths) in the Oro Valley and Tucson areas receiving a total of seventeen 1.25 hour sessions on a weekly basis. It will cover expenses of the therapeutic team for hours of direct service and expenses for care of the horses.
